The Grand Unified Formula of Insulation Value
Here is my attempt at a price comparison formula for insulation:
Value = Cost / (Square Footage x R-Value)
To put this formula in practice, here is an example from an add-on to one of my insulation bids:
Cost $425 / (143 ft2 x R19) = $425/2717 = $.156 per R ft2

When evaluating the true cost of closed cell foam, it's important to understand just how foam saves you construction dollars in the building process and then how it saves you monthly through your utility bill. To truly compare the differences, we must understand what we get for our money.

We insulated a 2600 square foot house with closed cell polyurethane foam. Because of the efficiency of the product a 2-? ton HVAC unit was installed. The thermostat is kept on 72 degrees year round.
In the last thirty-six months the owners have not had an electric bill over $94.00.

The history of fiberglass insulation dates back to ancient Egypt. In home insulation, blown in cellulose insulation is becoming icreasingly popular. Traditional fiberglass insulation versus cellulose insulation is a big decision in new home construction and each has different benefits when it comes to home insulation. Fiberglass insulation prices are about 7 cents per inch thick square foot. The cost of cellulose insulation pricing is about the same. So what's the big difference between the 2 products? Below is some information about blown in cellulose insulation Vs fiberglass insulation so you can make an informed decision.

Federal Tax Credits for Consumer Energy Efficiency
If you purchase an energy-efficient product or renewable energy system for your home, you may be eligible for a federal tax credit. Below you will find an overview of the federal tax credits for energy efficiency.
Please note, not all ENERGY STAR qualified products qualify for a tax credit. ENERGY STAR distinguishes energy efficient products which, although they may cost more to purchase than standard models, will pay you back in lower energy bills within a reasonable amount of time, without a tax credit.

Some of my grandmother's windows have broken and I need replacement parts. I'm trying to get them from the installer, Bill Hayne's, but I they are not being very cooperative. She paid for a lifetime warranty, but yet they want to charge her to fix them. I don't think she wants to give them any more money and so if I have to fix them myself, I'll try these guys for parts.
Because of the large variety of different parts, you may need to ship us a complete sample of what you need in order for us to positively ID your part.

This article was written as a companion to Installing A New Window In An Old Wall, but the discussion also applies to new construction framing. This article assumes that the reader has a basic familiarity with the components of standard platform framing, such as studs, headers, joists, etc.
I found this article looking for nomenclature. We're repairing some water damage around an old sliding glass door and I wanted to know the names of all the pieces of wood we'll have to replace.

Selected Perennials for Oklahoma Gardens

Helianthus annuus
sunflower
Annual Well, I’m not going to write an article on annuals… so I thought I’d throw this fun flower into the perennial article. That’s semi-legit because they do come up in a lot of gardens every year. Now that I’m completely justified….let me say, Sunflowers are LOTS OF FUN! They are the ideal plant to begin teaching children with… they grow fast enough to fascinate both student and teacher. And the flowers are big enough to fascinate you all over again. These days they come in an enormous range of colors and sizes… so please yourself, but make sure you have at least 1-3 giant sunflowers so the kid’s can learn about feeding birds and about salted sunflower seeds. There is always just enough sun in any garden for a small patch of these prairie loving flower giants.

Water Storage Bag 300 Gallon AQUATANK II.,TRANSPORTABLE, SUPER HEAVY DUTY
The new Aquatank II is ideal for emergency water storage, but can be used for many other applications. Unlike our previous models that were designed to be static after filling. The new Aquatank II can be transported in an SUV, truck, camper or trailer without the risk of damaging the unit. Of course with certain precautions.
The material used for the Aquatank II, is a heavy duty polyurethane coated nylon that is suitable for potable water. This material is highly puncture resistant, durable and flexible. It will not wrinkle, crease or crack. When not in use this unit can be folded or rolled up to take up almost no storage space (about 4.5' X 12').
The drain sleeve on the Aquatank II has a male garden hose attachment and the fill sleeve has a female attachment.

Scientific breeding is deserving of study by every one interested in the utility side as well as by those attracted to the fancy side of poultry raising. No farmer can afford to ignore the profit to be derived from the proper handling of even a small flock. Common hens are well enough in their way and by scientific breeding might in time be developed into heavy laying strains, but practical people are more interested in what has already been accomplished along such lines. They want stock that will produce the most eggs and meat at the minimum cost of feed. Certain Leghorn strains will produce more eggs than any other known breed, because for many years they have been systematically bred for great egg yield. Under certain conditions like will produce like. A pullet from a strain of great layers should be a great layer; if bred to a male descended from a strain of great layers, the females of this progeny should be greater layers.
